Interference Pattern, 2024, silk tapestry, 12 x 10cm
Interference pattern is an observation of our current obsession with screens and the infinite visual information they project. This work plays with implied sound, as the scattered woven pattern references the distinct sound of TV and radio static created through signal interference. The two intense green shapes hint at a second visual plane – they are distinct from the ‘background’ of pattern (although of course they are woven as one plane). I think of these shapes as lights seen through heavy rain – a metaphor for our collective visual noise.
